The fact is that currently we are halfway through to achieving that maximum effect. After decades long efforts, we extended the season. Last year, the season was 6 months, this year it will be at least 15 days longer. Currently, the season lasts from March to November and, as of this year, we are using our capacities much better than last year. April this year broke records when it comes to profit. May as well, June is quite good and it is remarkable that September is selling out by 36% more than last year. I will explain – hotel Splendid is one of a few 5-star hotels in Montenegro, but the only of that size; in other words, it has the largest capacity. The destination itself does not have sufficient capacities, so in order to support it, we give a share of 30% to tour operators and the rest we sell through our own sale channels. Therefore, our occupancy rate does not depend on tour operators and the number of guests they bring, but on the number of guests we bring ourselves, through our sale channels. But, there is still room for improvement, particularly in winter time. I think we will be able to compensate it with guests from the so called “distant markets”. Our starting point was quite low, so we are registering a growth of 200-300%; however, we have already reached a point where the growth is slowing down, which means that the occupancy rate is much higher and will meet our needs for the winter period, which is occupancy rate of 60%.

Can you tell us something more about further plans of Montenegro Stars Hotel Group regarding stimulation of MICE tourism?

We have a conference room that can accommodate a thousand people. For now, what we have is growing every year and at this point I can’t say when we
will have maximum occupancy. However, what has been happening over the past five years was just a dream that we are living right now. Today, we have clients from all over Europe, while until recently, those were mainly guests from the region and Russia. The prospects are good, all paths are open, and I am a real optimist and certain of further growth and development. We have an offer that not many have. Montenegro is a small country, but geographically quite diverse. From the Boka Kotorska Bay, via Lovcen and Cetinje, the Skadar Lake… In three to three and a half hours, one can visit both the sea and the mountains, the fields and the lakes.

However, Montenegro lacks a big congress centre for organisation of events for several thousand people.
It is very attractive in spring and autumn and there are many opportunities. In that regard, I think that Montenegro is a winning combination.
The post Zarko Radulovic: We Have an Increase Compering Last Year appeared first on SEE Business travel & meetings magazine.
Specialized agency for MICE groups, DT Croatia, was founded two decades ago and this year they celebrate jubilee.
Daniel Marusic, General Manager of DT Croatia
As they say, at the beginning it was hard to compete with existing tour operators that had strong MICE sectors, but thanks to creativity they shortly became the agency that dictates standards. On this occasion we spoke with Daniel Marusic, General Manager of DT Croatia, regarding challenges and doing business in the past 20 years.
What were the biggest challenges for your business in the past 20 years?
DT Croatia has been established in 1998. After year 2000. DT started turning more and more towards MICE business and after a short period of time specializes in MICE and groups only business. We recognized the weak points of the local and regional competition, so it was clear how to make the system work better to make a more attractive service together with DT local service providers – hotels, restaurants, guides, transport and others. That was the biggest challenge. We grew along with all our partners and we succeeded to establish MICE standards in this industry. We are planning new projects that will demand from us a different approach in our everyday business. It is a new product that will ensure us the advantage in this industry.
How many successful events have you organized?
I can freely say over 1,000 incentive groups and meetings – not including other groups that do not have MICE elements, and those were also over 1,000. The biggest groups were regarding car industry, for back to back programs, that had 12,500 people.

What are you particularly proud of all these years?
I am personally most proud of our teams that have done big things, respecting the DT standards – a light conservative approach in some business moments, and at the same time a powerful innovative creative and human approach in moments when it most wanted.
We at DT do business like one runs a marathon – it is not important to be fast, explosive and strong, but to maintain the same high quality for a longer time.
What makes DT Croatia different from others in this industry? How do you cherish cooperation with clients?
Numerous awards, regional and international, prove all our work of all our people and right approach for MICE standards, to which we pay great attention. Cooperation with partners we maintain in a simple way – we know the work technology in this industry. This is the precise reason why leading MICE agencies from Europe work with us when they organize incentive
group travels for their clients in Croatia or Slovenia.
And this is how some of DT Croatia’s clients feel about their cooperation:
08-13.05.2016, CIRCLE8 EVENT
Circle8 Event team
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
this is to certify that DT Croatia supported us and our client with the onsite planning for a 150-people-event in May 2016 (4-day-event). DT Croatia supported us in the organization of the bus shuttle services as well as decoration and dinner entertainment and did a marvelous job! We are very satisfied with the exceptionally friendly service and the always smiling crew of DT Croatia who made all last minute changes feasible. We have very much enjoyed working with you and the team and are looking forward to potential future projects together!
18-22.05.2016, ONE TOUCH TRAVEL
Lena Ekstedt, One Touch Travel AB
In May 2016 we used the services of DT Croatia for a group who went sailing from Split. We were very satisfied with everything from start to finish. Free of charge and open to all, the day will incorporate five core streams covering event design, future trends and supplier education.
The popular Association Day also takes place the day before the show, offering free, tailored education exclusively for association professionals.
The IMEX Association Day programme has been redesigned for 2017 and will feature a new Association Management Stream, covering topics such as understanding why members leave and how to persuade them to stay. There will now be two Meetings & Events Streams (A and B), discussing issues such as how to maximise member participation at your events, and how to identify and approach new sponsors.
Exclusively Corporate at #IMEX17, the dedicated event for corporate meeting planners and event marketers, has also been redeveloped for IMEX in Frankfurt this year. Tailored to address some of the challenges faced by planners, there is a full day of networking and free education on topics such as delivering ROI, creative event formats, new technologies, security risk and emerging destinations and trends. After a series of group sessions, the education then splits into two streams with sessions on strategic global programme management for senior event professionals and operational issues for event managers.
Emanuele Caprarelli, Meeting & Event Planner at CROMSOURCE, Italy, who attended the event last year explains: “This event is about getting us to think. To remind us not get stuck in our own ways of doing things. It’s also good to meet people here. I’ve been in touch with people I met here at the event two years ago, and just saw them again today.”
IMEX Frankfurt
More exhibitors to meet
The IMEX show itself offers a wide range of business opportunities and inspiration with new exhibitors including Saudi Arabia, Meet Puerto Rico, Barcelona, Vienna House Hotels and Choose Chicago.
Exhibitors with expanded stands include Tourism New Zealand, Royal Caribbean International, Latvia, Slovenia, Accor and NYC. With the largest global array of exhibitors from every sector in the meetings industry, buyers can discover 3,500 worldwide organisations, the latest trends and hundreds of meeting professionals under one roof.
Combined with over 200 networking opportunities with senior level meeting professionals, and social events including Site Nite Europe, CIMClubbing and the IMEX Gala Dinner, this adds up to three inspiring and productive days of business. Mark Abbott, Director of Operations, Abbott Travel Group, USA, who visited the show last year sums up: “My visit to IMEX was very fruitful.
With 28 meetings in three days, I was able to cover more ground and obtain more information than I thought possible in such a short time. There is nowhere so much business can be done in so little time.”
Registration is free of charge – www.imex-frankfurt.com
The post IMEX in Frankfurt 2017 – New Purpose for 2017: Reimagines Key Education Programmes appeared first on SEE Business travel & meetings magazine.",
