Is it possible to make deals in coffee shops in Cannes, too? Would you bum tickets in expensive evening attire?</p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ana Ilic is the CEO of SFA (Serbian Film Association) since it was founded and a board member of AFCI (and, as of recently, a cluster council member with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce). In the following article, Ana and her team give a special account of the impressions and the atmosphere at the Cannes Film Festival for the readers of SEEbtm magazine.</p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>In addition to the Berlinale</strong>, which takes place every February in the German capital, the <strong>Cannes Film Festival</strong> is most definitely <strong>the biggest European and global festival</strong> and market that is right behind the Oscars by its glamour.</p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since 1947, when it was first organised, the festival runs every year in May, with with a few skipped years. During these twelve days, the French Riviera\u2019s crown jewel turns into a universe with many parallel worlds.</p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[quote_box_right]Tickets are very hard to get, and viewers must adhere to a very strict dress code, so during the day the red carpet is under siege of men and women in expensive evening attires, trying to bum tickets like hitchhikers.[/quote_box_right]</p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The main festival ceremonies, the market, and the press conferences are held at the <strong>Palais des Festivals</strong>, which was specially erected for the festival in <strong>1982</strong>, where once a casino stood. All have participated at the Venice Film Festival at least once over the past twenty years. This way, <em>Future Reloaded</em> brought together the past and the future of cinema.</p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #a52a2a; padding: 10px; color: #eec85f; font-size: 12px; width: 200px; height: auto; margin: 10px; font-family: arial; float: right; text-align: center;\">\n<p><strong> Number of films viewed &#8211; 3,470 (1,534 feature films and 1,936 short films)</strong></p>\n</div>\n<div style=\"color: #a52a2a;\"><strong>There were many premieres and prestige awards.</strong></div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There were 55 new feature films in the Official selection, of which <strong>53 world premieres, and 2 international premieres.</strong></p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most prestigious, the Golden Lion was awarded to the Italian documentary film <strong><em>Sacro GRA</em>, by Gianfranco Rosi</strong>. Then, Silver Lion was given to <strong>Alexandros Avranas for film <em>Miss Violence</em></strong><em>. </em>And, the Grand Jury Prize won <strong><em>Stray Dogs</em> by Tsai Ming-liang</strong>. <strong>Themis Panou is the Best Actor and Elena Cotta is the Best Actress.</strong></p>\n<div style=\"color: #a52a2a;\"><strong>New business platform for cinema professionals &#8211; Venice Film Market. </strong></div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Venice Film Market is the new business platform dedicated to cinema professionals attending the Festival. All have participated at the Venice Film Festival at least once over the past twenty years. For the birthday, they made a short film lasting between 60 and 90 seconds, in total creative freedom.\n\nAll these films were projected during the Festival, combining with forty clips from historical newsreels that have been chosen and restored by the Istituto Luce Film Archives. Themis Panou is the Best Actor and Elena Cotta is the Best Actress.\nNew business platform for cinema professionals &#8211; Venice Film Market. \nThe Venice Film Market is the new business platform dedicated to cinema professionals attending the Festival. It offers Industry Club, the new and exclusive meeting area for producers, buyers and sellers; Digital Video Library enabling participants to watch films from the official selection of the festival as well as titles submitted through the Venice Film Market; Industry Business Centre with information desk, Internetpositions and Wi-Fi network and Exhibition &amp; Event Area, a special location with industry stands, meeting corner and a special room for national and international panels.\nRaising up of the seating capacities.\nThis year the spaces for the press and several fundamental technological systems were renovated; a new 150-seat theater at the Casin\u00f2 was built.\nAlso, The City of Venice allocated the sum of 6 million euro designated to radically renovate the Sala Darsena.\n33 Nations participating represented by films in the Official Selection.\nThe design work is in the final phases, construction will begin in November and the space will be ready for the 71st Venice International Film Festival.\nSumming up, seating capacity has grown this year to circa 4,950 seats, and will rise to 5,100 next year (thanks to the renovation of the Sala Darsena), closer still to the goal of 5,500 seats, which can be achieved with the renovation of the Casin\u00f2.\nS.G.\nThe post THE PAST AND THE FUTURE OF CINEMA &#8211; 70TH VENICE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL appeared first on SEE Business travel &amp; meetings magazine.",
